Project / La Mian Kitchen
Task /  Logo & Visual Identity Design including stationery, menus, uniforms and all items required for a restaurant; Signage and Interior Graphics
Client / New Hong Kong Restaurant
Year / 2005
In collaboration with Q Jade Saw Architects

La Mian Kitchen invokes the nostalgia of the ‘monsoon trade routes’ between Northern and Southern Asia. Its logo is a representation of the ‘Eternal Knot’ of brothers crossing paths at eating houses. A little bit Sino in interpretation and a little bit now, it carries the communal dining aesthetics of a contemporary midway stopover inn.

La Mian Kitchen in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, serves handmade noodles in a typical shophouse. The logo visually merges the Chinese knot with the visual of handmade noodles, and is intentionally asymmetrical to keep the symbol from becoming static.
